All my icons are gone - all the games and programs that I had on my desktop are gone, tried rebooting but that didn't help.

First of all try right clicking on your desktop, choose Arrange icons by,  then choose Show desktop icons, see if that fixes it.

If it doesn't then run a complete virus and malware scan or spyware scan.
