Windows 7 how to move the taskbar

By default the taskbar is placed at the bottom of your screen and if you want to move it to the top or any of the sides, the first thing you need to do is to unlock it: right click on an empty space of your taskbar and make sure that Lock the taskbar option is not selected.

Now you can click on the taskbar, hold down the mouse key and drag the taskbar to the position of your choice – top, left, right, or bottom.

Another way to achieve the same is to right click on an empty space on the taskbar and click Properties – when the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window comes up, click on the drop-down menu right next to Taskbar location on screen and select one of the four positions – Bottom, Right, Left, or Top.
